Big things are happening

In the next six months or so our lives will be changing dramatically. Coming up in June my little sister, Joanna, will be getting married and if you don't know she has been living with us since September of 2007. Starting June 13th the only people that will be living at our house will be people with the last name of Bush. It's been so long that I don't remember what that is like. (Don't get me wrong, I have loved Joanna living here. I'm going to miss her greatly, but at the same time I'm excited to have our house back.)
In September, as you know, we'll becoming a family of 4. Which means that Garrison will be moving out of his room now and into the room next door. We'll be making the transition from crib to bed. Oh how I pray that will be an easy transition. I cannot wait until I can dive into his new room and start painting and turning it into a little boys room. When we were pregnant with him we decided to keep the nursery neutral for a few reasons. First, we started planning and painting before we found out he was a boy. And second, we didn't want to have to buy a new bedding set if we had a boy and then had a girl or vise versa. So the nursery is neutral. Now with him soon moving into his room I'll be able to make it a complete boys room. Sports here we come.
This summer we also plan on tearing out all the carpet on the first floor and fixing the hardwood underneath. I could not be happier about that. Our entire house, except for one staircase, is covered in WHITE carpet. I've hated the carpet since we moved in, but since having a child and THREE dogs come into this household I've developed a stronger hatred for it. This project could not come fast enough for me, but I know that Thomas is going to drag his feet on this one. (sorry babe, but you know it's true.)
But before these events happen a few, very small, changes have been occurring around here. The first one is Garrison has taken up walking. We were getting kind of nervous that he may never branch out and take a step. He's 14 months and seemed to have no desire to ever walk. He is a master at crawling and can get from point a to b really fast. We would stand him up and encourage him to try walking, but he would just plop down on the floor and crawl away. Then one day he was leaning back on Joanna while Thomas, Shane, Joanna and I talked and out of nowhere he started walking across the room like he'd been walking for years. Of course we ran to get the camera hoping to capture the moment again, but nothing. Now he still prefers to crawl, but will at least try and walk to his destination before he drops down and crawls. Sometimes he makes it there without crawling and other days he takes two steps and crawls the rest of the way. I know one day he's going to take off running and never go back to crawling again. So I'm cherishing the time I have left with a crawler in the house. (this isn't the greatest video of Garrison walking, but he gets overly excited when the camera comes out and has a hard time concentrating. Also don't know why the video is so far away from this paragraph... sorry)

Besides him beginning to walk he got a HAIRCUT. (I know your excited Tom, my brother) It has been six months since I cut it last and it was to the point that you could almost put the back in a small ponytail. I know, I know that's gross, but I was so lazy and couldn't get myself to cut a one-year-olds hair. It's such a work out, but Thomas had a few days off this week so we decided to tackle the challenge since, hopefully, warm weather is around the corner. He did really well, for the first 30 minutes, but after that it was EXTREMELY hard to get him to sit still. I don't blame him. But we made it and now our little "girl" is a handsome little boy.

his new look

The last change of the week is my expanding belly. It wasn't that long ago when I was pregnant with Garrison, but boy did I forget how fast you start to show. Although, I know that you "pop" out faster with your second than your first. I also forgot how annoying it is when your clothes start to not fit right. I can still wear my pants with no problem, but some of my shirts are already to tight. However, I will not complain about it because I'm so excited about being pregnant again and cannot wait to find out what we're having.

2 days shy of being 14 weeks

Cuuuute belly! I am so excited for you! I also love Garrison's new haircut! It makes him look so old. I can't believe that you are able to cut his hair yourself! Wow!
